Matchroom Sport has launched its new global over-the-top (OTT) streaming platform that will provide live and on-demand coverage of 12 sports, including boxing, darts and snooker.
Matchroom Live, which is powered by streaming and video technology provider StreamAMG, will air the World Darts Championship, Premier League Darts, the World Snooker Championship and pool’s Mosconi Cup, as well as other events in the UK-based promotions company’s portfolio.
Live coverage of Matchroom Sport events will be available through a subscription package or pay-per-view options in territories where the company does not have a broadcast deal in place. The platform will also make archive footage from Matchroom Sport’s past events available for free.
Accessible via a dedicated website on connected devices, Matchroom Live includes a ‘QuadPlay’ feature, which allows viewers to watch as many as four live events at once.
Barry Hearn, Matchroom Sport chairman, said when the platform was first unveiled in March that the service will enable the company “to reach new audiences” and “grow our international presence”.
StreamAMG already has a relationship with Matchroom Sport through PDC.TV, the dedicated darts service it has powered since 2016. The company also streamed Anthony Joshua’s heavyweight boxing rematch with Andy Ruiz in the Indian Subcontinent last December.
