Canada defeats New Zealand to be first quarter-finalist at World Darts Cup – DodoFinance

Canada qualified for the quarter-finals of the World Darts Cup for the second year in a row. Two bachelors were enough for North Americans to deal with New Zealand.

Jeff Smith put his country in the lead 1-0 by beating Haupai Puha 4-1. The silent took advantage of a few doubles duds from Puha in the first leg and went on to take a 3-0 lead. Puha won the fourth stage, but the victory went to Smith with a 100 points.

Matt Campbell was then able to guide Canada to the quarter-finals, but was 2-0 behind Cody Harris. With four excellent legs, Campbell turned the game in his favor, rendering a pairing match pointless.

Countries can decide for themselves which player plays the first and second single. If the score is tied after two singles, a twinning team will be involved to decide which country will advance to the World Darts Cup quarterfinals.
