Check out who earned Hearts & Darts this week – Ripon Commonwealth Press

Every week, the Ripon Commonwealth Press runs Hearts & Darts and/or Quote of the Week on one of its opinion pages.

Here is what made Hearts & Darts for the Aug. 12, 2021 edition of the Ripon Commonwealth Press.

Hearts

To the Vandebrink and Bandt families, whose produce stands on Ripon’s west (above) and east (below) sides, respectively, provide motorists with the opportunity to purchase some of the tastiest, sweetest corn in the area. One of the best parts of summer: Sweet corn — and other healthy treats — sold by roadside vendors.

Darts

To those who missed a wonderful Green Lake County Fair this past weekend. The event that had to be cancelled last summer offered some of the best entertainment that money can’t buy, be it the animal barns and judging competitions; hypnotist, music and children’s shows; craft exhibits; and a service by Federated Church, to name only a few. Those with a few coins in their pocket could enjoy a demolition derby, midway rides and games, bingo and delicious food topped off by the dairy barn’s $3 cones and dishes of ice cream.

Hearts

To Heidel House for not only bringing back the wonderful, musical summer celebration, Sun Splash, on Saturday, Aug. 21 from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m., but also hosting a luau buffet and party on Thursday, Aug. 26.

Do you have a Heart or Dart you want to submit for consideration in next week’s paper and online story? Send it to news@riponpress.com. Pictures are welcome as well.

Darts attacking specific private citizens or local businesses will not be allowed.
