Brilliant Baggish seals Cazoo World Darts Championship return – PDC.tv

Danny Baggish has sealed his Cazoo World Darts Championship return after claiming his second CDC title of the season in Ontario on Saturday.

The final Championship Darts Corporation treble-header of the year began with Baggish clinching Event 10 glory, which gives him an unassailable lead on the 2022 Points Standings with just one event remaining.

The top-ranked American and top-ranked Canadian from the 2022 Points Standings qualify for the sport’s flagship event, and Baggish boasted a sizeable lead heading into this weekend’s action in Toronto.

Baggish, a winner at Event Three in May, also featured in three further finals across the opening nine events and produced a series of superb displays to triumph at Event 10.

The American number one kicked off his campaign with a whitewash win over James Solek, before dumping out Canadian trio Keith Way, David Cameron and Matt Campbell to advance to Saturday’s showpiece.

Baggish – who boasted a tournament average of 95.85 – then closed out a convincing 7-3 victory over his compatriot Stowe Buntz to lift the title and confirm his third World Championship appearance.

Buntz avenged that defeat by dispatching Baggish 7-2 in the Event 11 semi-finals, although it was former World Championship qualifier Jim Long who claimed the spoils, running out a 7-3 winner in the final.

Long also defeated his compatriot David Cameron in the Event 11 semi-finals, with the latter now on the cusp of securing his Alexandra Palace debut as the top-ranked Canadian representative.

The 52-year-old has scooped a hat-trick of CDC titles in 2022, and leads his nearest challenger Jacob Taylor by 16 points heading into Event 12, therefore one win on Sunday will confirm his qualification.

Coverage of Event 12 will be streamed from 1400 EST (1900 BST) through PDCTV for all subscribers, and PDCTV Subscription options include a $1.99 Day Pass which also covers Sunday’s Interwetten German Darts Open.
